The Kanchenjunga south base camp trekking is also one of the popular tourist destinations in Nepal. Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586 m), the third highest mountain in the world is one the unspoiled trekking trails in eastern part of Nepal. It was opened only in 1988 for trekkers. The trekking to the south base camp offers a varieties of landscapes, cultures and panoramic views of Himalayas including the Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga itself, the four of the worlds five highest mountains. Therefore, the trekking in this route makes the trek rewarding. Mt. Kanchenjunga lies on the border of Nepal and Sikkim (India and is the watershed of the Tamur Koshi River. The trekking to Kanchenjunga south base camp offers a glorious panorama from the crest of moraines.
Kanchenjunga South Base Camp TrekkingThe trekking to Kanchenjunga south base camp begins from Suketar, where we reach by direct flight from Kathmandu. After landing at Suketar, we take walk about four hours and reach at Phurumba and take a rest. Subsequently, we head to Chirwa, Sikathum, Ajilasa, Ghympla and finally reach at Gunsa, where we take rest for acclimatization, once we are ready, we head to Selele base camp (4200 m), from there we subsequently, proceed to Tseram, Ramche (4500m) and finally we reach at Oktang, the south base camps of Kanchenjunga then we exploring the area, we descend down to Tseram and Amji Khola, Tharturawa, Khande Bhanjyang and finally we reach at Suketar and we catch flight to Nepalgunj and then to Kathamandu.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 01:Arrive Kathmandu, transfer to hotel.
Day 02:Kathmandu to Biratnagar by flight and drive to Biratamod (300m)
Day 03:Drive to Thorpu from Birtamod (1500)
Day 04:Thorpu to Yangpang (1007m) by trek
Day 05:Yangpang to Yamphuding (2080m) by trek
Day 06:Acclimatization day in Yamphuding
Day 07:Yamphuding to Tortong (2995m) by trek
Day 08:Tortong to Cheram (3870m) by trek
Day 09:Acclimatization on Cheram
Day 10:Cheram to Ramche (Kanchenjinga South Base Camp, 4580m) and back to Cheram by trek
Day 11:Cheram to Tortong (2995m) by trek
Day 12:Tortong to Yamphuding (2080m) by trek
Day 13:Yamphuding to Yangpang (1007m) by trek
Day 14:Yangpang to Thorpu (1500m) by trek
Day15: Drive Birtamod (300m) from Thorpu
Day 16:Drive to Biratnagar from Birtamod and fly back to Kathmandu (1300m)
Day 17:Fly back to Home/Destination
